Online Personal Training for Balance & Fall Prevention
Stay Steady. Stay Strong. Keep Doing What You Love.
Balance can change as we get older. But losing your confidence in your body doesn’t have to be part of getting older.
Maybe you’ve noticed you’re a little less steady than you used to be. You’re holding onto the railing more often, feeling less confident on uneven ground or thinking twice about activities you used to do without a second thought.
The good news is that balance can be trained.
Strength, mobility, coordination and balance all play a role in keeping you steady and confident on your feet.
And the right training can help you maintain those abilities as you get older.

Why Balance Can Change After 50
Maybe you’ve noticed little changes that you didn’t used to think about.
You feel less steady getting up from the floor. Uneven ground feels a little harder. You’re more cautious going down stairs or walking on slippery surfaces. Maybe you’ve even had a fall that made you think twice about your balance.
Balance isn’t just about standing on one leg. It depends on your strength, mobility, coordination, vision and your ability to react when something throws you off.
And as we get older, these things can change.
But that doesn’t mean you have to accept it as part of getting older.
One of my favourite things to see with my clients is when someone comes to me convinced that their balance is just going to get worse because they’re getting older—and then they start improving.
They start feeling more secure on their feet and realize that their balance isn’t something they just have to accept getting worse with age.
That’s why I love working on balance. There’s so much we can do to improve it.

A Whole-Body Approach to Balance
Balance is about much more than standing on one leg.
Build leg strength
Strong legs help you stay stable, get up and down from the floor, manage stairs and recover when you lose your balance.
Train your core
Your core helps keep you stable and controlled as you move.

We’ll work on your ability to brace, rotate and control your body through different movements.

Build Confidence in Your Body
Most people don’t come to me because they want to spend their time thinking about fall prevention.
They come because they want to feel confident in their body.
They want to walk on uneven ground without worrying. Get up from the floor easily. Take the stairs without holding on. Keep hiking, travelling, playing golf or doing whatever it is they enjoy.
And I love seeing what happens when someone realizes their balance can actually improve.
You’re not simply trying to prevent a fall. You’re building a body that feels more capable and confident.
That can make a big difference in how you move through your everyday life.

Hi, I'm Katie
I’ve been helping people feel stronger, healthier and better in their bodies for more than 25 years.
I’m a personal trainer and Certified Holistic Nutritionist, with a degree in kinesiology and more than 25 years of experience coaching movement and strength.
I actually started my career volunteering at a cardiac rehabilitation centre at McMaster University. It was there that I first learned how different training can be for adults over 50—and how important it is to understand the person in front of you rather than simply follow a workout plan.
I learned how to work with people with different abilities, limitations and starting points, and how to gradually build strength, confidence and physical capacity.
That experience has stayed with me throughout my career.
Today, I bring that same approach to my personal training clients—helping them understand that getting older doesn’t mean they have to stop feeling capable in their bodies.
